Anti-Bullying T-Shirt Design Contest Winner

Students at Lee County Middle High School in grades 6–8 were challenged to design an original Anti-Bullying T-shirt featuring both a unique slogan and creative artwork. The winning student would have the exciting opportunity to see their design come to life on their very own custom T-shirt.

Staff members at Lee County Middle High School carefully reviewed and voted on all submissions — and it was no easy task!

We are proud to announce that 8th-grade student, Gus Horn, is this year’s winning designer! His creative and impactful slogan, “We Don’t Play That Tune — Say NO to Bullying!”, stood out for its originality and powerful message.

In Mrs. Caudill’s 8th grade ELA class, students have been exploring the concept of theme—the central message or lesson that a story conveys. To practice this skill, students analyzed children’s books, which often present clear and meaningful themes in simple yet powerful ways. By identifying the underlying messages in these stories, students strengthened their ability to interpret more complex texts and articulate how authors communicate deeper ideas through characters, conflicts, and events.

Edit to the previous 8th grade night post: There will only be 1 elementary game before our celebration and slideshow! Again, if you plan to come for that, we now only have 1 elementary game at 6 before 8th grade night!

Join us tonight at the Heber Dunaway Gymnasium to celebrate and recognize our 8th grade LadyKats! They will be taking on Buckhorn this evening starting with 2 elementary games before starting at 6PM! 8th grade escorts are encouraged to be there by 7 PM. We hope you can come out and support our kiddos!

The VolleyKats finished 3-1 today in the Buckhorn Lake Classic. Finished 2nd place bringing home a trophy. All tournament team decided on by opposing coaches went to Natalie Price and Samantha Evans! Congrats to all the VolleyKats they played great today!

The Lee County FFA took part in All in For Ag Education Week by visiting Lee County Elementary and spending time with the kindergarten classes. FFA members read farm-themed books to the students and led fun, interactive discussions about different farm animals and their importance. The activity helped introduce young children to agriculture in an engaging way, while also showing the role farmers and animals play in everyday life.

September is Suicide Prevention & Awareness Month
Each September, schools and communities across the country take time to recognize Suicide Prevention and Awareness Month. This is an important reminder that mental health matters and that it’s okay to talk about our feelings. At the middle school level, students may be facing new challenges, pressures, and emotions. By learning how to recognize signs of struggle and knowing how to reach out for help, we can create a culture of care and support. Together, we want students and families to know: you are not alone, and there are always safe people and resources available to listen and help.
